Introduction
This exercise introduces you to 3d modeling by asking you to make a virtual Jack-o-lantern using various techniques to sculpt a sphere.
These SculptGL tutorials will be helpful. Tutorial #3 is especially practical, while #4 is the most inspiring.
Sculpt your pumpkin
Visit SculptGL, choose some of these options in the Sculpting and Painting pane at right, and drag your cursor across the sphere.
- Check symmetry
- Tool > adjust intensity
Or hold down C key and drag mouse.
- Tool > adjust radius
Or hold down X key and drag mouse.
- Tool > negative
Or hold down Option/Alt key and drag mouse.
- Tool > transform > drag different arrows or the tiny colored boxes to change the sphere's overall size and shape.
The inner circle is rotation tool, but you can't see it for a sphere. Try changing it to a cube instead of a sphere to see the results.
Add a background
Once you're satisfied with your pumpkin head, add a background:
- Background > upload background image
- Check fill to cover workspace
🛠Hit spacebar if you get stuck I need to reset the view of the camera
Save your masterpiece!
- Screenshot an image and post it to the #x-3d channel.
