Sculpt a 3d Model exercise

Version 1.0

Introduction

This exercise introduces you to 3d modeling by asking you to make a virtual Jack-o-lantern using various techniques to sculpt a sphere.

These SculptGL tutorials will be helpful. Tutorial #3 is especially practical, while #4 is the most inspiring.

Sculpt your pumpkin

Visit SculptGL, choose some of these options in the Sculpting and Painting pane at right, and drag your cursor across the sphere.

  1. Check symmetry
  2. Tool > adjust intensity

Or hold down C key and drag mouse.

  3. Tool > adjust radius

Or hold down X key and drag mouse.

  4. Tool > negative

Or hold down Option/Alt key and drag mouse.

  5. Tool > transform > drag different arrows or the tiny colored boxes to change the sphere's overall size and shape.

The inner circle is rotation tool, but you can't see it for a sphere. Try changing it to a cube instead of a sphere to see the results.

Add a background

Once you're satisfied with your pumpkin head, add a background:

  1. Background > upload background image
  2. Check fill to cover workspace

🛠 Hit spacebar if you get stuck I need to reset the view of the camera
