DeepReal

Ty Delargy

This capstone aims to create realistic true to life avatars for any person using mobile hardware. These replicas can be used as both a representation of virtual identity, and a biometric key to keep information private and secure and will be stored and managed via decentralized ledgers to insure no central control over this shared and authenticated reality.

Rotoscope

Pete Vigoda

This project combines Silver Age movies with a new media technique to create an entirely new format of its own. Rotoscoped films are used as a substitute for traditional animation; the process uses base footage as a guide for frame-by-frame animation to produce more realistic movement. Today this technique is generally used for high-quality artistic films or low-quality cartoon, but I want to bring old forgotten media that is still relevant today to animated film of the modern day.

Safe Virtual Reality

Chris Vogel, Sam Braga, Christian Doiron, Ethan Trott, Nick Sherman

This app lets users take a short video of themselves and upload it to a server to be converted into a VR avatar; the app transforms the real-time video feed into pixel coordinates for the VR headset. This will facilitate the animation of the user’s model in the metaverse, allowing for real time movement.

JMG Check-In

Eli Caret, Spencer Morse, Xingzhou Luo, Michael Ferris

This web application lets Jobs for Maine Graduates students check-in to their particular Extended Learning Opportunity.

Purely Human

Crypto Nest

Tyler Layton

Tyler aims to make a platform that teaches users the ins and outs of cryptocurrencies and NFT's so they can form their own opinions on the subjects.

In 'The Maker,' we face the realities of being human by exploring two very different lives and experiences. As you progress through each event, you decide whether you are on the side of humanity or against it through video game storytelling.

Smart Parking

Zac Fitts

The idea of Smart parking is to have a simulated campus parking lot that can identify whether a vehicle is parked in each individual space within that parking lot using a machine learning data set for detection. That information is then sent to a website and mapped out, identifying which parking spots are open, and not open to help people commuting to campus find a parking spot without having to search several different ones before they find a single place to park.

Small fiber neuropathy can be caused by over 30 medical conditions including diabetes, aging, and chemotherapy. This project creates a user interface for a device to measure electrical activity and thus nerve health. The user interface includes a robust database that connects to the microneedle array and securely receives electrical activity.

The goal is create a platform where users can see information and learn about what the drinks and beers are and create and order their own custom cocktails using a simulated bartender interface.

What About You

Claire Gilpatrick

The pandemic saw a surge of discarded surgical masks. Because masks are used to protect the wearer, masks are harder to break down and leave more micro-plastics in the environment. My sculptures are my way of showing how something made to protect us can have negative consequences if not disposed of properly. My digital picture book includes a graphic I made to educate the viewer on how to properly dispose of masks.

Weather Warrior

Amy Whitman

The Weather Warrior phone case defends devices against hot summers and cold winters to keep their hardware and batteries from being permanently damaged. Oftentimes, if a phone is left out in the cold for too long, users report that their charge drains to almost nothing. Likewise, when using a phone at the beach or leaving it in the car, the phone will turn black and not be usable due to overheating. Using a material inspired by outdoor clothing, I want to design a sleek, durable, and lightweight phone case that is thermally regulated on the inside.
